The building works started in 1298 under the reign of James II of Aragon and finished in 1454. It is one of the most representative works of Catalan gothic art. Inside the temple you can find one of the fountains in which the Ou com balla (dancing egg) can be watched, as it stands on its own only with the help of a water jet force. The current façade was built in the XIX century by both Josep Oriol Mestres and August Font, and was sponsored by Manuel Girona, a Catalan businessman.
