RUINS AT EMPURIES During the 17th century BC, the indigenous populations of this part of the coast of Empordà lived in different areas protruding from the marshy waters. A part of the Iron Age, the settlements and towns already had commercial relationships with the Etruscans, Phoenicians and Greeks. Later, different settlements - such as the Greek and Roman city of the famous ruins of Empuria Brava were - established.
