CADAQUÉS, SEA PORT

/ MONUMENTOS Y LUGARES DE INTERÉS

CADAQUÉS

The world-famous "fishing town" with approximately 1900 permanent residents, declared itself the gem of the northern Costa Brava. During the 1950s, tourism was established here as in many other coastal towns. But nowhere else in the world of a similar size welcomed such famous artists as "Dalí's town". Matisse, Picasso, Duchamps, Man Ray, Max Ernst, André Derain, to name just a few.
Today, the road that links Roses to Cadaqués and the Port de la Selva - quite an adventure full of spectacular views and winding curves - causes regular traffic jams at holiday times. Cadaqués is no longer cut off. It is the "beautiful little girl" of the Catalan coastal towns. Its peaceful streets around the Baroque church of Santa María and the little boats that rest on the rocky beach, are evidence of this. Salvador Dalí's house, several museums and the different art galleries make Cadaqués an ideal place for a cultural holiday. The Town Council also organises many cultural activities. Beyond that, the Cap de Creus Natural Park, with its restaurant, creates the ideal conditions for nature lovers
